Vermont is greener than I remember this time of year. The leaves are out and the flowers are blooming. I find my sanctuary in the mountains, where everything is still and so very quiet. I have been enjoying my time on my bike, road and mountain. I am lucky enough to have awesome miles of mtn bike trails in my backyard. I also competed in a fun triathlon last weekend at Killington. It was refreshing to be competing again and always fun when it's at home. I am getting excited to head to Maui next week for my brother Jesse's wedding!!

Sorry I have been lacking on the blog posts. My computer has decided to stop working.

Spring is in full swing in Vermont. Great fun to be had today on the mountain for Killingtons May 1st SL. Tucker and I wore matching old school sweaters, Jack Frost 1976 ski school uniform, courtesy of the parents. We looked pretty sharp sporting the retro gear. I am happy to report that I beat Tucker. Granted he did have a little pants problem. He was rocking my moms stretch pants and about two skates in they busted at the seams, resulting in skiing with his pants down by his knees.

Tucker and I left the snow in Vail and started heading east early Wednesday morning. We arrived to sunshine and spring like conditions 30 hours later. After excited puppy greetings, a hot shower, I was very grateful to craw in my own bed and be back home in Vermont.

To the open spaces of Wyoming, to the mountains of Utah, onwards to the sunshine in Colorado. I have had the pleasure to drive around the west coast for the last three weeks. With no really plan in place, I went seeking different landscapes and catching up with my very good friends. We shared, we laughed, we loved and we had a great time. As the snow keeps falling here in Vail, I crave spring and sunshine. It's time to head East and be on the road again.

The excitement of being healthy and racing in my first National Championships in three seasons ended abruptly while I felt a sharp pain in my right knee half way down the course. While my knee swelled, teammates and coaches offered their support. I felt emotionally numb to it all, not wanting to expect another injury. My heart broke in the thought of having to rehab once again. I traveled to Vail to meet with Dr Sterett.

Last time I was in Squaw was 2002 for my very first National Championships. It's crazy to think 11 years has passed by. I am forever grateful for the opportunities I have received through the sport. My parents are pretty remarkable for supporting my siblings and I on our journey over the years. I look forward to competing in my first Nationals in three seasons. Although my family couldn't make it out to cheer me on, my ski racing family surrounds me.

The weekend was filled with sun, soft snow, smiling faces and spring time excitement. I gear up to head west this week. Time to pack the duffel bags and be on the road.
